Western Denmark Study Tour - Day 1

Our first stop was to Musholm Bugt Feriecenter - a vacation center
We sketched for an hour or as long as could until our hands were frozen...that day was particularly cold.

Oh goodness....the pizza is bigger than her head!!!!

Next, we went to the Faborrg Museum designed by the Architect Carl Peterson

A celebration of portraits and realism - each color and brushstroke reveals itself behind another until you realize you've been standing and staring - amazed by the attention to detail

Danish Resistance Museum

After class, a few friends and I venteered to to visit the Danish Resistance Museum. I was surprised at how much I had not known of Scandinavian history.

The Danish Resistance Movement was an underground insurgency movement to resist the German occupation of Denmark during WWII. By1943, many Danes were involved in underground activities ranging from producing illegal publications to spying to violent sabotage. In 1943, the movement scored a great success in rescuing all but 500 of Denmark's Jewish population of 7,000-8,000 from being sent to the concentration camps by helping them into neutral Sweden.
